Face Masks

Why spend lots of money on skin products and spas when the answer to having beautiful skin is in the kitchen. I will be sharing with you 3 different types of homemade facial masks that are simple and natural. I personally apply a mask once a week and have noticed major differences with my skin after some time.

  1. Lemons

Lemons are excellent for the skin because they contain vitamin C which increases skin elasticity and collagen production. It also contains citric acid which brightens up dull skin, helps treat pimple, reduces dark spots and lightens the skin tone. In addition, potassium helps moisturize and hydrate the skin.

Ingredients:

  • ½ Lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of raw honey
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

Directions:

  • Mix the honey and the lemon together in the bowl.
  • Apply the mixture on your face. Allow it to dry for about 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Wash your face with warm water then with cold water and dry it with a towel.
  1. Plain Yogurt

Plain yogurt is an excellent source of vitamins. It contains Vitamin B2 which hydrates the skin, It contain has Vitamin B12 which heals rough skin. It also has Vitamin B5 which is used to lighten dark spots. More so, it has lactic acid that keeps the skin youthful and zinc which slows down the ageing process of the skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon of yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey
  • 1 teaspoon of oats
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

Directions:

  1. Combine the ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well.
  2. Apply the mixture on the face and allow it to settle for 15 minutes.
  3. Wash your face with warm water fallowed with cold water. Then dry it with a towel.
  1. Avocado

Avocado contains lots of minerals including calicium, copper, iorn, magnesium and so much more. It also contains vitamins B, E, A and K. These vitamins and minerals help reach the deeper layers of skin thus increasing skins elasticity and keeps the skin hydrated.

Ingredients:

  • ½ a soft avocado
  • 2 tablespoons of hot water
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon

Directions:

  1. Mash the avocado using a fork then add the rest of the ingredients together and mix.
  2. Apply it on the face using your fingertips or a brush. Keep it on for 10 minutes.
  3. Wash with warm water followed with cold water then dry with a towel.

Tips:

  1. Washing with cold water helps close the pores.
  2. After drying with a towel, make sure to moisturize your skin with your favorite lotion. My absolute favorite is cetephil.
